What is Marula?

The Marula Tree
The Marula tree has a history that dates back thousands of years. Archaeological evidence has shown that this tree has been a nutritional source since about 10,000 BC. The marula fruit and nut are rich in minerals and vitamins, and it is estimated that 24 million marula fruits were eaten in Zimbabwe's Pomongwe Cave.
“Sclerocarya birrea,” commonly known as the Marula, is a medium-sized deciduous tree, indigenous to the miombo woodlands of Southern Africa, the Sudano-Sahelian range of West Africa, and Madagascar.
The Marula’s oil-rich kernel is called the “food of kings”, its fruit is sky-high in Vitamin C,
Fun Fact: Locals believe it is known as “The Marriage Tree” in Zulu culture, as it is believed that those who marry beneath its branches will enjoy vigour and fertility all their days.
I chose to brand myself as, ‘The Marula’ because of all the beautiful things the Marula tree is and continues to be. I seek to be a walking representation of something so powerful.
